The garden is beginning to produce summer vegetables once again; cucumbers, beans, tomatoes, squash and assorted chili peppers. This year we put in a layer of worm castings to enrich the soil and reduced the variety of vegetables we planted. The bell peppers were only so-so last year so didn't make the cut this summer. We also infiltrated the tomato planter with edible flowers and herbs (nasturtiums, dill, cilantro, and some flowers that I haven't been brave enough to eat). I'm cheering on the nasturtiums to spread wildly so I can transplant them into otherwise barren areas of the surrounding gardens.
